Concept: Resolution of urban violence by confronting its root causes along with the use of timely interventions. Action and history.

Onli was a professional artist/illustrator and art therapist before becoming a certified public school art teacher. He often brings the vision and resourcefulness of this background into the classroom. He feels that the visual arts are a normal part of everyone's life. Design, education, appreciation, self-expression, healing, documentation, production, and commerce are all enhanced by the impact of the visual arts.

Teacher ....Artist....Coach

My name is Turtel Onli.

"I formerly taught Visual Art and coached Girls' Basketball at the Near North Metro High School, Dyett Academic Center, and The School of Entreprenuership of the Chicago Public Schools. Now I am teaching Art and Graphic Design at the Kenwood Academy High School and a member of the Educational Advisory Board of the Marwen Foundation.

I started with the Chicago Public School system in 1991. Before that I taught classes at Columbia College in Chicago. Teaching and reaching students brings satisfaction to my day. I received a Lifetime Achievement / Pioneer's Award at Temple University's ECBACC 2006 awards program. You can check out my blog at www.dablackage.blogspot.com."

"The goal of a quality visual arts education is for the student to become a critical observer and thinker. Each student should become more aware of the role of the visual arts in our lives and society as a whole."
